Ugandan singer Nina Roz has come out to clarify her political stance following public scrutiny over her recent appearance at an event hosted by Norbert Mao.
The event, which took place at Mao’s residence in Rubaga, brought together creatives and key stakeholders to celebrate the recent progress surrounding the Copyright Amendment Bill an issue that directly impacts artists and the wider entertainment industry.
Nina Roz’s attendance quickly sparked speculation, largely due to her known association with the National Unity Platform (NUP).
Critics and fans alike questioned whether her presence signaled a shift in political allegiance.
However, the singer has firmly dismissed such claims, maintaining that her loyalty to NUP remains unchanged.
According to Nina Roz, her participation in the gathering was purely as a musician and not as a political representative.
She emphasized that she was personally invited by Norbert Mao and attended in support of the creative industry, particularly in celebrating legal advancements that benefit artists’ rights and intellectual property protection.

“I attended the event as a musician, I am here to celebrate the win we registered earlier this month, I am still an active member of NUP but not its representative at this event,” she explained, addressing the growing speculation.
In addition, Nina Roz distanced herself from the Uganda National Musicians Federation, noting that her appearance was not connected to the body and that she no longer aligns with its objectives.
Her clarification highlights the often complex intersection between entertainment and politics in Uganda, where public figures frequently face scrutiny over their affiliations.
By speaking out, Nina Roz aims to separate her artistic engagements from political interpretations, reinforcing her position as both an active artist and a conscious supporter of industry growth.
