Iran’s Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf has said the country’s armed forces are fully prepared to face any United States troops who might enter Iranian territory, raising fresh concerns about a possible escalation in the region.
In remarks carried by the state-run Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA), Ghalibaf accused the United States of sending mixed signals.
He claimed that while Donald Trump has shown interest in negotiations, there are also signs of military planning behind the scenes.
“The enemy is publicly talking about negotiations while secretly preparing for a ground attack,” Ghalibaf said.
He warned that Iranian forces are on high alert and would respond immediately if US soldiers enter the country.
His comments come shortly after reports in US media suggested that the Pentagon is considering extended ground operations in Iran that could last several weeks.
Although no official confirmation has been given, the reports have added to growing uncertainty about Washington’s next move.

At the same time, the US military recently confirmed the deployment of about 3,500 troops from the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit to the Middle East.
The movement of troops is seen as part of broader military positioning in the region, though officials have not clearly stated their exact mission.
The latest developments highlight the fragile situation between the two countries, with both sides signaling readiness while also leaving the door open for possible talks.
Observers say the coming days will be critical in determining whether diplomacy or military action takes the lead.
