Swangz Avenue singer Azawi (Priscilla Zawedde) has stirred debate in Uganda’s music scene after openly criticizing the recent work of King Saha, real name Mansur Ssemanda, describing some of his latest releases as “substandard.
”
Speaking during a recent interview, Azawi did not hold back her opinion, singling out tracks like “TikTok” and “P.
2” as examples of songs that fail to meet her expectations.
According to her, the newer releases lack the emotional depth and musical quality that once defined King Saha’s artistry, especially during his earlier phase when he was known for soulful love songs.
“I don’t like the songs he is releasing currently—songs like ‘P.
2’ and ‘TikTok.
’ I don’t like such music,” she stated, making it clear that her criticism is focused on the artistic direction rather than personal issues.
Despite the strong remarks, Azawi was quick to clarify that she still respects King Saha’s contribution to the industry.

She highlighted songs like “My Way” and “Kasoke” as examples of the kind of music she appreciates from him, noting that those tracks showcased his vocal strength and emotional delivery.
Her comments have since sparked mixed reactions among fans, with some agreeing that King Saha’s sound has evolved in a way that may not appeal to everyone, while others defended the singer, arguing that artists naturally experiment with new styles to stay relevant.
The exchange reflects a broader conversation within Uganda’s music industry about artistic growth, consistency, and audience expectations.
While Azawi’s remarks may be controversial, they also underline her position as an artist unafraid to voice honest opinions even about established figures in the game.
