The gathering attracted several musicians from Busoga, media personalities, and supporters of the cultural competition.
While addressing attendees, Lusoga Mpuku chairperson Naika Latifu shared the history of the event, explaining how the competition started in 2022 and has continued to grow over the years as a platform that promotes Lusoga culture and entertainment.
He also clarified why the competition did not continue in 2025, saying the program faced interruptions caused by political-related challenges before the activities could be completed.
Despite that setback, he confirmed that the event is returning this year under the theme “Lusoga Mpuku Gumite Che Che Kule. ”
According to Naika Latifu, contestants who had already been nominated during the unfinished 2025 edition will continue in the 2026 competition since their earlier journey was never concluded.
He explained that this year’s edition will resume from the second phase of the previous competition.
He further announced that the organizers have introduced sports and additional competitive activities to make the event bigger and more engaging for the community.
The competitions are expected to begin on June 1, 2026, while the grand finale is scheduled for August 30, 2026, at Kamuli Playground, popularly known as Kamuli Mukisaawe.
During the same meeting, the manager of KBS FM encouraged young people to take part in cultural and media activities, saying the future of such programs depends heavily on youth involvement and creativity.
He noted that many of the major responsibilities at KBS FM are currently being handled by young workers at the station, including media and social media operations connected to Lusoga Mpuku.
Among the youthful presenters recognized was Harry Kovic, a presenter at KBS FM 105. 9 known for his dedication and influence at the station.
Harry Kovic hosts the entertainment show “Friday ChaChancha” every Friday from 10PM to 2AM, where he features music mixes, celebrity interviews, and entertainment discussions.
The manager also applauded Selector PW, a DJ and presenter at KBS FM, for his contribution to the station’s entertainment programs and youth-focused activities.
He urged experienced people in the industry to create room for younger generations to showcase their abilities and leadership potential, adding that the station has confidence in the energy and creativity of young people.
The manager concluded by assuring attendees that Lusoga Mpuku 2026 will officially take place as planned.
Another important activity during the launch involved the election of leaders for the KBS Fans Club, a step aimed at strengthening coordination among supporters of the station and followers of the Lusoga Mpuku initiative.
