Iran US Talks End in Disagreement After 25 Hours

Talks between Iran and the United States in Islamabad ended without a final agreement after long hours of negotiation, showing both progress and deep disagreements

Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baqaei said the discussions did not produce clear results mainly because of what he described as excessive demands from the US side, but he made it clear that diplomacy is still active and important for both countries

He explained that although the two sides managed to reach some understanding on several issues, there were still differences on a few key matters, which made it difficult to conclude the talks with a deal, especially given the tense atmosphere shaped by recent conflict and mistrust

Baqaei noted that the negotiations were the longest held in the past year lasting up to 25 hours and came after weeks of war, adding that it was unrealistic to expect a full agreement in just one meeting while also pointing out that new complex topics such as the Strait of Hormuz added more pressure to the discussions

He stressed that diplomacy remains a vital tool to protect national interests in both war and peace and said the success of future talks will depend on serious commitment and good faith from the opposing side as well as respect for Iran’s rights
He also thanked Pakistan’s leadership and people for hosting the talks and expressed hope that regional cooperation and dialogue would continue in the future
