Israel and Lebanon have agreed to a 10-day ceasefire following talks involving United States President Donald Trump, offering a pause in fighting and a chance for further discussions
Trump announced that the deal was reached after he spoke with Lebanon’s President Joseph Aoun and Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
He shared the update on his Truth Social platform, saying both sides had accepted the temporary agreement
The ceasefire is scheduled to begin at 10:00pm UK time, and is expected to stop ongoing military activity between the two sides during that period
According to Trump, senior US officials will now take the lead in pushing for a longer-term solution.
Vice President JD Vance and Secretary of State Marco Rubio are expected to engage with both countries to help move beyond the temporary pause and work toward lasting peace
The agreement comes at a time when the region has been under strain, with concerns growing over safety, stability, and the impact on civilians
A ceasefire, even for a short period, could provide relief to people affected and allow humanitarian efforts to continue more safely
However, it remains unclear what will happen once the 10-day period ends.

While such agreements can open the door to further talks, they do not always lead to permanent solutions.
Much will depend on how both sides use this window of calm
Trump also said that he has previously helped resolve several global conflicts, adding that this would be another success in his record of peace efforts
For now, the focus will be on whether the ceasefire holds and whether it can lead to more stable and lasting progress in the days ahead.
