An unexploded “bunker-buster” bomb has been safely neutralised in Iran’s Yazd Province after it was discovered buried deep beneath a residential area, raising fears of a possible disaster.
According to reports from Tasnim News Agency, the powerful ordnance was found nearly 13 metres underground after it failed to explode on impact during recent attacks. Its location directly beneath homes posed a serious threat to residents, with experts warning that any disturbance could have triggered a deadly blast.
Security and emergency teams moved swiftly. A joint operation involving the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps and local bomb disposal units was launched to handle the situation with precision. The challenge was not just disarming the device, but doing so deep underground without causing vibrations that could set it off.
How do you safely defuse a bomb buried that far below people’s homes? Specialists carried out a carefully controlled operation, using advanced techniques to neutralise the explosive and remove it without incident. Their methodical approach ensured there were no casualties and no damage to surrounding buildings.

Residents, who had been living unknowingly above the hidden danger, were spared what could have been a catastrophic explosion. Authorities confirmed the operation was completed successfully, describing it as a high risk but well-executed mission.
While the immediate threat has been eliminated, questions remain. Officials have yet to release details about the strike that left the bomb buried underground, and investigations are still ongoing to establish the full circumstances surrounding the incident.
For now, calm has returned to the affected area but the discovery serves as a stark reminder of the hidden dangers that can linger long after conflict strikes
