Opposition Presents Alternative Budget Plan, Calls for Change in Government Spending

Uganda's Leader of Opposition in Parliament, Joel Ssenyonyi, has announced plans to present the opposition's alternative budget priorities tomorrow, setting the stage for a heated debate on government spending ahead of the next financial year.

The proposal, which will be presented to the nation, outlines the opposition's vision for the country's development path, highlighting key areas of focus for the national budget.

Ssenyonyi emphasized that the initiative aims to provide a clear direction for the country's progress, stating, "We are doing this so as to paint a picture of the proper direction our country ought to be taking".

Ssenyonyi expressed optimism about Uganda's potential, arguing that stronger leadership could drive progress.

"With good leadership, we are able to not just survive, but to thrive," he said.

The announcement comes amid growing scrutiny of government expenditure and service delivery.

The opposition's move is seen as a challenge to the government's budget plans, and it remains to be seen how the ruling party will respond.
